September!

'Rangler families--

While our weather may say it is still July or August, we are into September.  We had a great start to the year, and are settling into a rhythm.  This update has quite a bit of information- I will cross post on Schoology and our website.

  • Our PTO is holding its September meeting next Tuesday, September 10th, at 12:00 in our library. Please join us!
  • The September Spirit Night will be on Thursday, September 12th, at the Tower Point Chick Fil-A from 5-8 pm.  Make sure you join us for a fun night, and drop those receipts in the PTO bag to give us credit!
  • The PTO's biggest fundraiser of the year, Boosterthon, kicks off on Tuesday, September 24th, with a pep rally.  Be looking for much more information as we get closer to the date.
  • If you have not had a chance to set up your Schoology account, this link has some useful information and how-tos.  Once you have created your account and linked to your child, you will also have access to the RP "main page," which will have updates and information posted.
  • All of our students are going to be taking a new online assessment called the MAP Growth Assessment. This assessment is a adaptive, comprehensive assessment in the areas of reading, math, and science (science test will be only in grades 3 and 4).  Students will be assessed three times this year, and the results will provide a valuable look at a student's strengths and needs. The assessments are NOT for a grade of any kind.   A very detailed look a this can be found here.
  • An update on pick-up and drop-off:  we have stabilized our car line times in the afternoon at just about 20 minutes total.  Wait times will vary depending on when you arrive once we get started, no one is waiting more than 7-9 minutes.    A few reminders about our arrival time-  we have two lanes in our drop-off area, but only the RIGHT lane is to used for drop-off.  The LEFT lane is for pulling around and for accessing the parking spaces in our visitor lot.  Please be mindful of stopping a car in the crosswalk area to let your students out, as we do have quite a few students and families that need access to this area.  Finally, please remember that the faculty parking lot area is NOT for use during arrival times.  We have multiple buses that need access to the driveway, and we cannot have the area blocked.  Some helpful videos about these areas can be found attached to this email, on our website, and in Schoology.
