S.P.I.R.E. is a highly effective research-based intervention program for students in CSISD who have been identified with dyslexia. Students who attend S.P.I.R.E. receive multi sensory instruction in a small group setting for 30 minutes a day.
Components of S.P.I.R.E. include phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Instruction is explicit, systematic, and sequential.

Students in the CSISD dyslexia program also have free access to Learning Ally, which is an educational reading app. They log in using their district-provided username and password for access to 80,000 human-read audiobooks, including textbooks, fiction, and classic literature. VOICEtext books make it easy to follow along by highlighting words as they read, enhancing comprehension.

An excellent book about dyslexia is Overcoming Dyslexia: A New and Complete Science-Based Program for Reading Problems at Any Level by Sally Shaywitz, M.D.
This book is a great resource for parents, and it offers some of the latest brain research about dyslexia along with practical tips for how parents can help their children who struggle with reading.
