Early Childhood Intervention

Early Intervention Specialist (K-2)
As an Early Intervention Specialist my main goal is to help children in grades K-2 acquire the skills to become great readers, writers, and speakers. Some of the ways I do this are to provide many different strategies to learn about all the different parts of a Balanced Literacy Program. The main components are as follows: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Writing. I also send many games and books home with my students so the parents can have an active part in the process. Some of my other duties are to test not only the students K-4 at Rock Prairie, but I go to other schools as well, to help give a district screener 3 times a year. I also have the privilege of helping develop curriculum, staff development and provide support for classroom teachers.
